Did the long haul overland in 1 day from KL Malaysia to Ao Nang Beach in Thailand. Train, then car across the border, then another car to Hat Yai where we got another driver to head to Krabi at 8pm. About 1:30am or so we arrived. Most places were closed for the rainy season (it was the beginning of May) but we found a place for the night. Next morning we moved over to the Ao Nang Beach Resort. Small hotel across the street from the beach. It was empty so they gave us a great rate for 4 nights. Beach is beautiful with crystal clear waters and limestone studded coastline. Hired a boat for real cheap and went out to some islands and snorkeled all day. Good seafood all around and friendly people. Internet access is easy to find too. Spent most days just lounging on the beach, taking boats out and relaxing. It was great having the place to ourselves with no other tourists in the vicinity. Can't wait to go back. Bangkok was next and a long bus ride to get there coming soon.
