South Central Lousiana is a fisherman delight. The fishing is great in the marshes that lay between solid land and the ocean. I am sure that there are charters, but I was fortunate to have a local friend that took me. The fishing was great. Lots of fish caught, but my stringer didn't see to get any fuller-until I realized that the blue crab were eating the fish off the stringer as fast as I caught them. --SUDDEN CHANGE OF PLAN-- started catching blue crab. The food is great. Cajun food is in a class by it's self (that's saying something for I am a diehard steak and potatoes man). I recomend the sea food gumbo (looks like it was diped right out of the swamp but delicious); the crayfish was a treat (but don't dress up, where I went, they brought it to you in bucks and had washtubs for the shells); the alagator was over rated.

Favourite spots: |
The fun is to find your own favorite spots. Don't go to the tourist attractions, search out the local dives- they may not have the class but are much more fun.

What's really great: |
The fishing and the food were great, but take some time to actually meet the local people--they are the greatest.
