In august 2003, I went to Munich. It just happened that I was there for the Festival of the Assumption. We planned a fast paced trip to see as much as we could and by gosh we did see a lot. And we still managed to make it a relaxing vacation.

Favourite spots: |
The number 1 favorite spot would be the Biergarten in Englischer Gartens. The pagoda was cool. The heat wave that had gripped Europe for most of the summer was starting to let up a little bit. The evenings spent at the biergarten were awesome. Very few bugs and the temperature was perfect shorts weather. The number 2 spot would be Marienplatz. This is the central square to the city. Many of the famous churches, Frauenkirche, St Peter's, ... can be found off the plaza. Also there are many cool restaurant/bars with outside seating for people watching.

What's really great: |
Munich is a city know for its beer and that is correct. However there is much better beer to be had than just the Big 6. There are even more regional breweries that produce an outstanding product.

Accommodations: |
Garden Plaza Hotel, 132 Leopoldstrasse. A bit away from downtown but less expensive and good deal for the money.
|
|
Restaurants: |
Andescher Am Dom, located at the back of the Frauenkirche. It has the best authentic food and great beer.

Other recommendations: |
Get out of the city and go to Schloss Neuschwanstein!!
