We decided to rent a car one day and travel to Salzburgh since it was so close to where we were in Germany. Salzburg is right there across the border. Right now there is some serious construction on the beltway surrounding Salzburg. Once you get into town Park Your Car! There is very little hope of driving anywhere. The gridlock is amazing. But once we parked we were able to walk around the old city quite easily. The old city is very compact. Both sides of the Salzach River are high rising hills that provide a commanding view of the city and area.
