There is so much to do in Playa Del Carmen, 10 days was not enough. From the Mayan Ruins to the underwater sites you will not be bored in Playa Del Carmen.

The city is well developed and colourful. A real mix of residents and tourists, it has it all. The beach is amazing, fine white sand, torquoise water and a place to grab a yummy drink anywhere along the way. While I was there, I went on 2 ocean dives, where I saw turtles, tuna, and a bull shark, among all those other beautiful and colourful fish. I also went cenote diving which is a must while you are in the area, do a google search for cenotes and you'll see what I mean. I also checked out the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza. Amazing, so much history and if you like archeaology, you will love this spot. We also took a ferry from Playa Del Carmen to Cozumel, a half hour ride, and very nice. Here we rented a Jeep TJ and drove around the island. Stopped at a beach for some snorkelling, which is cool, you can stop almost anywhere along the east side of the island and jump in and do some snorkelling. Playa Del Carmen is also very close to Cancun, which is a nice day trip if you like the ritz and the shopping there. Love Playa Del Carmen.

What's really great: |
Watching the ocean, the beach is so beautiful under and above, it is very relaxing just thinking about it.
Sights: |
Chichen Itza is a must and if you are a diver, check out the cenote diving, it will take your breath away.
Accommodations: |
Stay in the city, near the beach. We stayed 20 minutes outside of the city and found it inconvenient having to bus in everyday.
Restaurants: |
All the restaraunts along the beach are great, we literaly went to about 10 of them, some just for a drink, others for a snack, just being able to watch the beach and the water while you're sipping on a pina colada is wonderful.

Other recommendations: |
Cozumel is just a 40 minute ferry ride away and worth it, fun, busy island with a lot of beauty and great diving and snorkelling. Rent a jeep and drive it, it takes about 30 minutes to drive from one side to the other.

I agree, Playa del Carmen is a beautiful spot to just hang out. Because you are there to chill out it's a little tricky to pack it full of info.
Don't be disheartened by any low ratings.

The first part is interesting and well written but you could do with filling out the other parts a bit for a higher grade. |
