Cute women + ugly guys = my paradise! Portland has friendly people and resists being homogenized by chain stores and the ugly highway culture that has ruined most other cities in North America. Beautiful cycling, hiking, and just about any other outdoor activity can be reached by a very short drive in any direction. I have yet to explore beyond the city's boundaries though. I've had enough fun just riding around town!

What's really great: |
Portland has cool independent bookstores, restaurants, coffeeshops and pubs everywhere. You don't need a tourguide to show you around. Just wander around downtown, NW, or Hawthorne/Belmonth and you'll find something cool. Public transportation and cycling in town are close to the best I've ever seen so leave the car at home.
