A marvelously complex and active city. The beaches are excellent, the entertainment endless, and the people are friendly. Every day appears to be a holiday and the special holidays, like Carnaval, are unbelievable.

Copacabana Beach, Ipanema Beach, Leblon Beach. Sidewalk restaurants opposite the beaches. There are many cultural sites pertinent to the history of the country, of samba, and related music.

Subar Loaf Mountain, Corcavada, Metropolitan Cathedral, Arpoador, Maracana, Tijuca Forest, Passeios,

There are hotels to fit every pocketbook. The 5-star hotels begin at US$180, the 4-star at US$150, and the smaller hotels at more conservative prices. Copacabana hotels are recommended for the first visit.

Nightlife: |
Countless numbers. Some fade out and others emerge. Young men can start at Lucky's on Copacabana and brahch out from there.

Hangouts: |
Pubs and stand-up drink stands are located on most of the off-streets.

Restaurants: |
The Churrascarias with roasted meats are superb. Fruits of the Sea are fresh and tasty. Quality and taste are excellent.
