Roswell is located about 3 hours south of Albequrque and from a distance just looks like another desert town. In downtown you will find all sorts of novelty shops featuring, yes you guessed it, alien memorabilia. Truly you should stop in to a few of these shops. Slighty overpriced for the alien snot and t-shirts but definetly what Roswell is all about.

Favourite spots: |
For this trip I spent most of my time in a parking lot. For the car show that is. I think because the trip was so short the best spot was the hotel. Getting around Roswell is easy enough though and the traffic is not too bad. I noticed quite a few signs for city parks. Also, there were a few museums all dedicated to Space!

What's really great: |
I found the people in Roswell to be friendly. The only thing I would not really recommend is do not drink the water it tastes like spit and if you can stay out of the fast food restaurants. They are kind of dirty.

Accommodations: |
There are many hotels in Roswell. The Sally Port Best Western is a nice one and so is the Fairfield Inn by Marriott. Both have a pool and A/C!

Restaurants: |
All along the main strip (hwy 70) you will find restuarants. fast food, local food, mexican, texmex, chinese, italian. You can find anything to suite your fancy. I ate at a Wendy's and they were not very good (dirty and slow).

Other recommendations: |
The thing I recommend if you decide to go to Roswell is to just park somewhere and walk as long as you have plenty of bottled water, this is the desert! There are neat little shops and the locals have stories to tell.
