The old sugar town Trinidad is on the UNESCO’s list of world heritage. In the daytime many tourists arrives from La Havana and Varadero in chartered busses, taking over the small town centre. When they go back in the afternoon Trinidad returns to the calm and quite town as it is. The bus company ViaZul has a couple of tours per day starting and ending here from Havana and from Santiago de Cuba. Start from Plaza de Mayor and just walk through the streets.

Favourite spots: |
The view over Trinidad from Ermit de la Popa in the morning or evening. I can just say to be there in time so you do not miss the sun rising or going down. I recommend being there in the morning as the light is better.
What's really great: |
Walking through the streets looking at colorful painted old houses and buildings, old cars and meet nice people. Taste the local drink Canchánchara (a mix of rum, honey, lemon and water – and it is good) in La Canchánchara.
Sights: |
A horseback riding tour into valley de los Ingenios visiting a water fall, or take the train to the valley de los Ingenios visiting the old sugar plantation Manaca Iznaga. Go to the beach Playa Ancón, there are good places for snorkeling along the coast/beach.

Accommodations: |
Stay in a Casa Particular (by a familiy), this will get you closer to the cubans and in all places where I stayed in Cuba they offered me breakfast, many did also offer a meal in the evening. The meals are extra, but they are worth it, as you will have some good cuban food.
Nightlife: |
The disco Las Cuevas (it is in a cave!) shall be good, I do not know for sure, as I was getting up early next morning and therefor did not go there.
Hangouts: |
As in many towns on Cuba go to La Trova de Musica or La Trova de Cultura. View from Ermita de la Popa, San Francisco de Asis is seen in the image.
Restaurants: |
If staying in a Casa Particular ask if they can cook for you or try to find a Paladres (a privat restaurante). This way you will taste good Cuban meals.

Cool report, a little short, but an enjoyable read. I hope I can make it to Trinidad in December. |
