The picture that I am now seeing, entitled Banak Pass was posted by Mrashid44. With the writing on it, this appears to be nothing more than a post card. My questions are:
1. Is this a postcard that has been scanned, or is it a photograph taken by the member?
2. Even if this is a photo, doesn't the script on the card lessen the value of the points that should be awarded? (As we all discussed elsewhere)
3. If this is a postcard, should it remain on the site.

Hi Russ,
I have looked at this upload and to be truthfull it does arouse suspicion. I know that we can all add lettering to pictures with Adope Photoshop and other such software! Perhaps Andy can throw some light on this particular upload and give his opinion - by accepting or rejecting it!
Cheers, Brit --- Cheers!

True, but for me, one of the telling aspects is that other photos (some even nicer) from the same person have no printing on them. In fact, only one other photo from this member has a photo. For me, that opens my curiosity.

Hi Russ
it sure has a watermark on it that says "pakistan picture gallery"....
anyway I just don't know what the intention of the pic is. I think that when the poster wants to share a great picture of a special place he could do it, when the intention is winning the pom contest or just get high ratings in general... well then it's unfairness
just some thoughts

Sorry, I appeared unintentionally to have started a new topic on Russ' point - I repeat my reply to Martin's addition on this string
Sorry Brit

A simple legal point. Any member downloading a postcard is publishing the work of another, not himself. There is a copyright issue here. We all agreed with GLOBOsapiens Gmb that we would not breach copyright by publishing anything other than our own work. If in doubt GLOBO should throw out any dubious uploads unless the member can prove that it is his own work!

My main reason for bringing this up was two-fold. SOmewhere in the fora (is this the plural of forum?), a new member wrote something about not having any photos and asked if it were okay to post some wonderful postcards that he had. Andy replied pretty bluntly with an "absolutely not!" Elsewhere, when we spent almost three weeks discussing the rating guidelines for photos, it was generally agreed that the writings on photos (using Adobe, or other software) generally took away from the photo, thereby lessening there point value. Therefore, I was shocked to see the mentioned photo with a rating of 4.66 when I first saw it.

Hi Russ,
could you please post a link to that particular picture. I could just find a picture of Banak Pass with text on it that seemed to be posted with an image software.
Best regards,
Andy

Thank to all of you. Here is a link to the mentioned photo:

Andy, this photo just looks too suspicious. The printing looks more like something on a postcard, instead of from Abobe, or some other processor. That, plus the fact that other photos from the same member do not have titles and text. Then, as Brit mentions, there seems to be a watermark on the photo.
This may be a legitimate submission, but there certainly is something that several of us have noticed that has aroused questions.
