I have been invited to the Captain's Coctail organized for the frequent travellers of MSC line. I met there our captain Vincenzo - very nice and very big man (see the picture). He was surprised that he has a passenger who travelled solo around the world 13 times! There was a good music, champagne and a great show in the evening. Our shop is not so big. But very cozy and I like ot since the first day aboard. The weather is excellent...
We are sailing to Dubai...

It is new destination for the cuose ships - I never been here before. Imagine narrow, 2-km long island connected to the mainland only by the causeway. On the island there is new ship pier, beaches, little tourist bazaar, chairs, bars... Kayaks to rent...
Cooks from the ship serve grill lunch...
Pedestrians are not allowed to leave the island - you can make it only in the group. Paying for the excursion on safari bus/jeep or bike tour. The tours go to the wildlife reserve on the mainland
You pay minimum 69 euro to see antelopes, giraffes, peacocks and other birds - it is worth and I did it! Sunbath in the afternoon.

On the outskirts of Abu Dhabi they built brand- new, huge white mosque. Emirates have enough money! Bus 94 goes there or if you are in the group you can go there by inexpensive and efficient taxi. All taxis here are metered - no need to bargain... Expect to pay around 40 dirhams one way.
At the beginning you must register yourself via internet (possible on a spot but come early to avoid long lines)
Ladies must covered their bodies and heads..
And you are free to go...
Yes, it is beautiful mosque and regarding the size - 3rd in yhe world - they say... There is a marked trail to the ornate gate and prayer hall. Then you can visit also small garden. Miracle!
In the afternoon I will be boarding the ship... Ahoy!

Jan 02, 2024 10:00 PM Warm evening in Abu Dhabi
It was raining in the morning in Kutaisi, but few hours later in Abu Dhabi the big, orange sun was welcoming us after landing. If you have a travel companion it is worth here to prebook the inexpensive taxi airport - city. It will be like 15 dollars per head to the door of your hotel. After check in in the hotel ot was already dark. We started a long, 5-km walk along the main First Zayed street, ending at the Cornish. Fountains, palms and a wall of illuminated skyscrapers...Memories... Pleasantly warm... Tomorrow we will be boarding the ship...

There are direct flights from Poland to Abu Dhabi, but not from Gdansk...
Instead going to Warsaw or even further south I decided to fly on a cheap to Kutaisi - Georgia (it cost less than ticket to Warsaw) and continue tomorrow to Abu Dhabi - also on the low-cost.
The weather in Gdansk is cold and foggy - just a good time to escape...
Our airport looks great - they opened the new wing for flights outside EU. I hope that the flight will be on time. And I consider 3-hours time change...

Happy New Year 2024 dear friends! A new year means new hopes, new plans and... new journeys. On January 2nd, I will set off on another trip to the Persian Gulf region. I have been there many times, but this region has the advantage that it is as warm and sunny in January as in Poland in summer. So why not to go, if travel experience can significantly reduce costs? It won't be a long journey, but another one will start right after it... If I can find free access to the Internet, you will find the "hot" messages from the travel route, as always, in my travel log diary. Keep your fingers crossed, please! :)

I had really white Christmas days. I spent them on the outskirts of Oslo with my son Adam and his family. Fresh snow was falling already in Christmas Eve creating wonderfol atmosphere. We were singing Polish Christmas carols at the fire side... I had really great time. The temperature outside was minus 15 deg Celsius. Sun war shining during the day - just a wonderland!

Bye, bye hot South America! The airbus flying over Atlantic was almost full but the miracle happened: I was angry to get the middle seat in the economy cabin. But when finally announced "boarding completed" I recognized that I am solo on the four middle seats! This never happened before. It was 10-hours flight Sao Paulo to Lisbon. What a comfort! I was feeling like in the first class! Sorry, the hot meal was poor on TAP, but it was served with a quality Portuguese red wine...
We landed in Lisbon at 5 am local time. I had enough time to wash, to shave and to go to the new gate. We were in the air another 4 hours flying Lisbon to Warsaw. What a shame: on this European flight TAP acts as a low-cost airlines: only a glass of water is included, for the other food you have to pay extra!
I landed in the snowless, foggy Warsaw on the middle of the day and now I am waiting for the connection to my Gda?sk. The next expedition - a sentimental journey to South America is almost completed. Thes was another great, successful voyage!

Lovely Curitiba is not strong (sorry to write it) regarding tourist info. They do not have info office or kiosk in the town. Language (few people know basic English). Internet sources are not updated...
How can I get to the airport (17 kms) on a cheap? Uber costs like 12 dollars. But I recognized that there is the city bus 505 going from my hotel to suburb Boqueirao terminal. You pay 6 reais in the tube and board bus from the tube. On the last stop you just change the platform to the stop of the orange bus E32 going to the airport as a shuttle. People in the hotels didn't know that. So I publish timetable for the travellers - for the backpacker this info is worth at least 12 USD. In elegant Curitiba airport I was waiting only quarters - no lines to the security control - you can go through with your water!

The capital of Brazilian Parana state shines like a jewel within the other prowince capitals of Brazil. Well designeg, with great samples of architecture, well organized and having interesting history and many green parks could be an ideal target for the tourists. I believe, it will be. Also because Curitiba lies on the level around 900 m above the sea and climate is more mild here.
I spent a sunny day strolling around Curitiba. They have also inexpensive tourist doubledecker bus starting from 24-hours Street, but I always prefere to walk my way... They have a kind of the old town with color houses and cozy Rosario Church (on the picture), flower clock and fancy pedestrian streets full of shops. It is Christmas time (34 deg Celsius today) - many Christmas trees are around and markets full of seasonal gifts are well known here. I have a good time in Curitiba!
