Many may not realise that it is still possible to get to Skye by boat, as an island should be reached, even if you don't want to go by the Calmac crossing through Mallaig and Armadale, which can seem a bit on the pricey side. In the summer months [only] it's still possible to use the small ferry from Glenelg to Kylerhea. If t should be too long a queue, it's not all that far -and a beautiful drive - to Kyle of Lochalsh and the bridge, free now but it doesn't feel like an island crossing.
