The town of Luang Prabang is the best preserved in south east Asia. The town is quiet but also very beautiful. Sunset over the Mekong has to be seen to be believed.
With it's many temples and resident monks it makes for an interesting visit. At 6am every day a procession of monks can be seen collecting offerings from the villagers.
There are also some great day excursions from the town including the Xiang Sae waterfall, Pak Ou cave and the traditonal whiskey and paper making villages along the Mekong.
