If you look off the Mono Pass trail you can spot a number of Settler's Cabins, once used by the pioneers moving west to California during the Gold Rush of the mid 1800s. This is probably the most complete of them, but some had two rooms and other had clearly defined areas for livestock. Mono Pass is one of 6 high mountian passess used by the settlers to cross the sierras.
