Gyantse Dzong and monument to Anti-British's by frenchfrog

Gyantse - China, Tibet Gyantse Dzong is an old fortress which used to accommodate the Gyantse Kings from the 14th Century. In 1904 when the British army invaded Gyantse, it was on this high ground where the Tibetans defended using their primitive weapons. The war was to last for 8 months when troops blasted the Tibetan ammunition storage. The Gyantse soldiers withstood for three more days and nights before jumping off the cliff….choosing death over surrender.
