When I first joined Globosapiens, there was something similar to Krys' proposal - it wasn't a chronological filter for pictures and reports, but every time when you logged in, you were provided with a thumbnails list of all pictures posted since your last visit. It was a very practical way of catching up, because thumbnails allowed you to skip the ones that seemed of little interest to you.

Krys' suggestion is even better, because you could return to the chronological list as many times as you wish.

I have only recently joined Globo and only today joined the group but I agree entirely with almost all the comments posted. I try to log on every day and view all pics and postings etc and it is becoming a virtually impossible task, the pleasure does not warrant the time involved as some members will upload a whole series of pics on the same area, just at different angles. I do not agree that there should be any kind of curfew as this would defeat the object of the site as I have come to see it, educate the members to only upload pics that they would be proud to frame and place in their own home, with the exception of one or two that may have special interest to another member despite the quality of the snap. Personally I will give 5*s to very few pics and only if they are indeed exceptional, The Poorest of the Poor by Plancarpin is a prime example. I also think that new members should have more encouragement to fill out a profile, when I first joined the site Davidx and others gave me a lot of help and advice which I would like to pass on to others but if you are only given a name and gender how do you respond? I hope that my comments will be recieved as a genuine request for response as I have really enjoyed this site and will continue to do so. Tony.

At the risk of beating a dead horse, or at least one that has already been beaten to within inches of his life, I want to resurrect this discussion.

We have a wonderful problem: lots of photos being uploaded. We upload them for the appreciate of other travels and not for ratings, but don't we all want to think that at least one other person has taken the time to look? Today there are 73 pictures. While I rated about 25 of those, I don't have the time to rate more. I looked, and a number have yet to be rated. I've raised this issue before and self-impose a limit of 5-6 a day. I find that doing so forces me to look more closely at what I am posting.

I don't want to discourage anyone, especially a newer member, from posting, but I would like to see some sort of self imposed "Code of Conduct" amongst the longer term contributors that limits us to half a dozen or so well chosen pics a day. Of course there will be exceptions, but we need to avoid having a new member, as is the case today (I rated his four pictures, but was the first on 3 of them, and they were posted late yesterday) go with photos unrated.

I am glad Eire revived this discussion and I completely agree with what she is saying (see my previous post).
