I forgot (I am stil sleeping!):

All the critics are welcome in the reports, but openly.

In this respect I suggest you to read the comments on Amies Avalon recent report and you will understand. Perhaps some of our reports are very serious and not everone like them and get asleep when reading them; they should be fresh and not like a telephone guide. That is why I apppreciate the point of view of one of the member' comment in Avalon and thank him for this honestity if he reads this.

Just writting this to be considered.

Thanks

Hi Jorge

Obviously, this thing about the rating of your reports is really bothering you. I can really feel the disapointment you had when your report was rated down... To me the ratings were also not always logical, hence the different rating threads in the fora that I started, in order to establish a rating guideline.

Just one other thing I like to point out to you, something that happens to me to sometimes. The rating could be a mistake. Sometimes I would like to rate lets say a **** and scroll down and accidentaly hit a * or **... and there's no chance to change your rating... so, what can I do, shit happens.... that's why I feel so strongly that more people should rate! The more ratings the fairer it will be.

Staff could also not count the lowest and the highest rating and calculate the average this way. so lets say we have the following rating 5 5 5 5 4 4 3 4 5 1 this would be 41 points altogether divided per 10 is 4.1 if you eliminate the higest and lowest you will have 35points divded per 8 4.375... But it's only working when we get over 5 votes...

hope this helps

Hi all,

I think we do have some mischief makers on the site who like to keep anonymous. My report for Siem Reap town has been sitting near the top of the list until today when someone added an 11th vote that pulled it down to 11th on the list and of course no comment to say who it was. I've read all the previous replies & you shouldn't let it bother you but it is annoying when you put the time & effort into writing a report and I think that it is happening quite often. The only reason I picked it up was because I was aware of it via Jorge's post.

Maybe somewhere down the track we could have a mini ratings list on one side or underneath so that if a comment was not posted the voters name still appears and makes them more accountable.

Kerrie

well i do agree with you all, there should be a default level at initial stages so tht pic are not rated below,

But here i would like to say tht some times i would like to rate higher ***** but due to mouse or cursor it automatically rated * or ** ,and when i tried to again correct it ,it says tht you already rated it .

I HAVE A SUGGESTION HERE ...CAN WE HAVE A POP UP MESSAGE ASKING WHETHER WE WANT TO RATE IT AS ........SO THT WE CAN AVOID THE MIS RATING ..

THANKS

RAVI

Exactly the point Ravi, thanks!!!

The miss-rating might mostly be due to a "wheel-mouse". This has happened to me about 5 times the last year, I apoligized to the members, that the when trying to scoll up to the top of the report - the system insteead scrolled to the top of the list and sent a "*" without my intension! This could be fixed in that staff re-arrange the order ***** to * instead of * to *****. A mistakingly ***** is easier to correct by other members as a * error!

Alternatively, there should be 5 different "rating" fields to click on without scrolling. Scrolling in the computerworld is usually only used for more than 12 items anyway!

Otherwise, I think that 100% of true travellers are honest, some jokers and self-doomed-loosers might always be around...

Man..... for someone who says its not about ratings jorge you dont half prattle on about them. I do my reports to share with others that may be of a like mind, if they read them and like them, cool....if they read them and dont like them, cool.... I have no idea were they are all rated Its of no interest whatso-ever to me... so either say that you ARE interested in ratings or just accept the fact that we all search for different things from a report and dont take it personally how someone rates your report, theres more to life, it aint about numbers buddy.

That's better - Rating Rulez! Consider the mass of reports on London, New York, Paris and other popular destinations. We would like to read the best rated first and not have to scan through hours of junk, medium quality or even intoxicated "weekend" blitz-trip mini-statements. Matt, and members, please do rate if/whenever you can. It helps OUR databank. RR

Ya Rangutan ,you are very correct here ,tht instead of a scroll there should be 5 points to choose from ,so tht some error ratings are avoided
