Hong Kong is a vibrant city that can be considered a playground with fun things to do, like: designer shopping, dining in fabulous restaurants, being seen at the race track, hanging around the harbour, immersing into the culture or enjoying the quietness of the countryside.
The city was previously governed by England but since July 1st, 1997, it returned to Chinese rule, with the main spoken language remaining Cantonese, then English.
Hong Kong has a population of 6.8 million and is considered a very crowded city. It is made up of three main areas: Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories. It also has Lantau Island which is nearly double the size of Hong Kong Island and is the home of the new international airport.
The weather in Hong Kong is nice throughout the year. The average summer temperature ranges from 26 to 30 degrees Celsius (May to mid September) and the winter averages 10 degrees, usually not getting too cold. [edit text][editors]
