information about spain  TeruelSpain
Torico means Little Bull. People in Teruel and in the whole Aragon have tendency to form the diminutives with the termination “ico”, instead of “ito” or “illo”, as in the rest of Spain.
The Torico square is the centre of Teruel; it is our “Picadilly Circus”.
Look at the torico at the top of the monument.

Isabel: Thanks. I advise you to visit Teruel if you come to Spain. Teruel is the deep Spain, no tourists, pleasant places to visit. A really wonder of town.

Jorge,Love the pale blue building. Such character. The torret/lookout at the top what would the purpose of that originally been for?

Fred: thanks for your comment. I also like this square and the little bull.

jorgesanchez - Mar, 01 2009 06:03am
Petra: that small statue, little bull, is already in that square 150 years. Bull is the symbol of Spain. In Teruel they like the bull fighting very much (I do not like bull fighting at all!).

Thanks Jorge,Teruel does indeed look like an interesting place to visit.

Jorge: Thanks for this information though I hadn't commented that pic before. I like it and this place very much as I like so many other beautiful places in Spain. Unfortunately I've never been in Teruel though. And: you are absolutely right about bull fighting.

jorgesanchez - Mar, 01 2009 07:03am
Robynallen: thanks for your comment. The bull is a Spanish symbol. It is small the statue because the pillar too is small. That is why is called Torico (little bull).

Petra: sorry, the comment was Robynallen's! But you comment so often the pictures that I gave for granted that it was your comment!

Jorge: You can be sure that there's no danger to have to read my comments about your contribution any longer. :)

I also not in favour of bullfighting but there are far more instances of cruelty to children and underprivileged people in the world to hold my attention than this. Good pic Jorge.
