rikoriko means waning light in maori, or twilight.

there is plant life in the cave different from anywhere else. ferns hang from the ceiling that only receive light for photosynthesis from sunlight coming in the entrance

rear of the cave there is underwater cup coral that normally grows at depths of 200 metres. amount of light that reaches it, tricks it to thinking it is deeper, so it grows at about 15 metres

latest live performance was an electronic band called pitch black who performed during 2003 Sea Week. there were 10 boats inside the cave with over 100 people, in and under water

visibility is intense and lucid. normal conditions at the Poor Knights can give 15 and 25 metres, but inside rikoriko, often get 35-45 metres visibility
