Shiraz - Iran, Fårs This gate , whose construction was never finished , shows us the stone-cutting procedure at Persepolis. First the cubic and cylindrical boulders were carried into the yard; they were then hoisted up and installed using wooden scaffolding , pulleys and ropes. The main carving works started from the top ending at the bottom.
