Brandenburg Gate's by siffer

Berlin - Germany, Berlin The ultimate symbol of Berlin is comprised of 12 Doric columns supporting a quadriga, modelled after Proplyaea, the entrance to the Acropolis. The gate was built in 1788-91 with the chariot designed by Schadow added in 1794 and featuring Eirene, goddess of peace. The piece was removed to Paris by Napoleon. After returning in 1814, Eirene lost her olive wreath and became Viktoria, goddess of victory complete with Prussian eagle on an iron cross. The passageway walls detail the exploits of Hercules. All this classicism certainly appealed to the Nazi mentation, who made the gate their symbol and began their parades from this site.
