Many thanks, Andy. I shouldn't like to be a blade of grass growing under your feet!

This sounds fantastic and I can't wait to try it out!

Cheers, David

Sorry to be 'moaning' already but I tried 'Richmond'. I was told there was nothing yet so, to see what happened I clicked on 'do a report'and got Richmond in South Africa to do.

I meant Richmond in Yorkshire, England and chose that for a trial because i wanted to see whether it would have both that and Richmond on Thames.

Cheers, David

Andy,

This is a fantastic idea! It groups everything together and makes searching for info on destinations much easier. Kudos!

I don't wish to be the bearer of bad news but I have noticed 2 flaws with it, though I think they should be relatively easy to correct. The first is if you have the '24-hour' frame (what is new on Globo in the past 24 hours), the display gets all messed up, and shows a 24 hour frame between each section (reports, pictures, tips, etc), which is a little annoying.

The other has already been mentioned I think, in that the search options are limited in some ways. For example, if you type in Antwerp like I did, it says that there are no reports, even though David just published one on that city. My guess is because the title is listed as Antwerpen, not Antwerp. I'm not sure if this is a language issue or search engine issue.

But everything new has a few bugs in it...just ask Bill Gates! Just kidding, this is much better than any beta version of Windows. LOL.

Keep up the great work!

James

Hi Globostaff

Thank you very much for this great update...!

The only item that doesn't show are the slide shows...

I know they are not yet uploaded connected with a country or city but it would be great if they would show up too... I just don't know how to do it technically, but that's what you guys are here for...

Just my opinion

Keep up your great work, thanks.

Thanks for this great new development. As with all things there may be a few teething problems but we all live and learn.

Great to see the site developing and going from strength to strength.

Hi everybody,

thank you for all your feedback. That helps a lot to improve the service.

David: This was a problem due to the fact that on GLOBO there is content on several Richmonds in the world. We have adressed the problem and found a solution. In cases like the one for Richmond you will get a selection of cities. Try it. That should solve this case.

James: Thank you for your hint with the content changes box. I guess I just login to often to get the box myself :-) That problem has been solved. Let me know if you still find a box anywhere which we overlooked.

About Antwerp. This is a problem we can not solve that easy. Problem is that there are 2 names in the database for the city one is a native one and one is the international one. Same goes for Munich. That is a pitty, but as for now possible to solve without to take to many programming resources off other projects. Sorry about that.

Martin: Slide shows are not in any relation to places so far on GLOBO. So it does not make sense to list them here. I see your point and will think about that isue. Maybe there will be a solution in the future, but as for now it is just impossible.

Let me know if you find other problems and we will be after them. It would be great to see you guys write some destination guides especially for the major destinations like London etc. Currently they show the default text. Gloriajames and otheres have made a great start. Maybe everybody could write a small introduction to his home town? I will also send out an email to the other members to write a few lines. Lets see if we get this thing running.

Best regards,

Andy

Thanks Andy, we will be hunting points as soon as we have the time, perhaps on those sleepless nights or rainy days :-)

Another obervation: Before we could use this search field to find text about subjects and adjectives eg: jungle, lions, autumn, insurance, postcards, uploading, scanning... in descriptions and forums. This doesnt work anymore, perhaps the previous search can be added again eventually or certainly the current search renamed as "Place Search" like the "Country Search".

Hi Rudi,

this does work simultan. The search tries to locate a place on GLOBO and if it failes the other search results will be displayed. So searches on jungle, autumn and so on should be covered.

Best regards,

Andy

Hi Andy

I've tried Richmond again as you said, Andy, and it does indeed give some choice.

Thanks - but I had picked a terrible example - try typing in Richmond for uploading picyures and you will find a host of Richmonds - and I still doubt whether Richmond, Yorkshire is included.

I had no intention of setting a 222nd century problem and I suggest you forget Richmond. I was thinking of using it as the place for something on Swaledale and Wensleydale but there are plenty of other places I can choose. It's not a problem worth losing sleep as far as I'm concerned.

As so many people have said, the new service is terrific.

Best wishes, David
