A town often missed by visitors to Turkey and, with apologies to the previous contributor, that report would hardly entice! The major, major (and unmentioned) attraction of Alanya is its 'Rock of Gibraltar', a stupendous high cape topped with terrific Byzantine fortifications and, thus, wonderful views. Certainly, otherwise, a very pleasant town, but well worth a side visit for the Cape alone!
Favourite spots:
As above, the cape. Good ancient houses and old harbour remains by the harbour - and a good cafe!
What's really great:
The cape - suggestion, get a cheap cab up and walk down!
