Beautiful Bohol

A short 1.5 hour fast craft ride from the Port of Cebu is the island of Bohol. Famous for its chocolate hills, smallest monkey the Tarsier, and beautiful beaches, Bohol is another most see stop in the Philippines

Bohol and the island of Palawan have alot to offer from beautiful beaches, to caves, to historic landmarks and even monkeys, there is something for everyone on Bohol.

Favourite spots:
Loboc River
Loboc River
One of my favorite spots is the Loboc river. Here you can see the world's smallest monkey the Tarsier and take a boat ride on the Loboc river that meanders through the jungle and ends when you reach the waterfalls. A great way place to take pictures and enjoy the beauty of nature.

What's really great:
Another favorite spot is Hinagdanan Cave (Dauis; 6 km. from Tagbilaran City). A small cace with a fresh water spring where explores can take a swim in the natural pool.

Sights:
Historic Church

Baclayon Church (Baclayon; 6 km. from Tagbilaran City).
One of the oldest stone churches in the Philippines a testament to the Catholic faith of the Philippine people.

Accommodations:

Beaches
I have been to Bohol twice and each time stayed at the Alona Tourist Inn and Beach Resort located on the sandy white beaches of Panglao island. The last visit in January 2007 was a disappointing. The restaraunt was under construction, and the staff was in short supply and high demand. Although many improvements have been made or are being made, the prices of the cottages were overly expensive for the quality and an extra bed was 2/3 the price of the entire cottage. If you travel to Panglao, there are numerous resorts and I would look elsewhere for your accomodations.

Other recommendations:
Pump Boat tour

There are many fisherman along the beaches near the resort. They often fish all night and then will take tourist for a small fee out to dolphin watch or tour of the island. The waters are clear, but if you decide to swim watch out for the tiny jellyfish- you don't see them but you will fill the burn from their sting :)
