Beached on Borocay

We arrived in Borocay the 1st of December '02. The Canadian & Australian Embassy's had just been closed down in Manila due to bomb threats, but that didn't phase us! Settled into Blossom's Resort, a bright, lovely little beachfront house just south of Willy's Rock (on top of which sits a grotto of the Virgin Mary) on White Beach, where the sand is like icing sugar. We had plans to island hop, but Borocitis set in so we just settled in to full chill out mode on beautiful Borocay for the next three weeks.

Favourite spots:
North end of White Beach (less crowded, cleaner, better sand). Stable's Real Coffee and the dog pound next door (I don't remember the name of that little bar, but good drinks, live music in the evenings, and it's the congregation place for the local beachboys and all the stray dogs) for hanging out. Jonah's Shake Shack for the best fruit shakes on the island. The east side of the island for good windsurfing (the ideal spot for beginners, shallow waters, offshore reef, onshore wind. Puka beach, a 10 min tricycle ride north of Boat Station 1, to get away from the crowds and check out some of those puka shells.

What's really great:
Six hour snorkelling trip around the island, complete with BBQ on the beach for only 300 pesos, booked through the English Tea House. Sunset sail with Joey from Red Pirates. Massages on the beach, cheap and plentiful......purrr-rrrrr. Chats with Miguel the former New Yorker at his hamburger joint Jammers at D'Mall, very entertaining. People watching along White Beach path.

Accommodations:
Blossom's, well worth 1000 pesos/night including a/c, hot water, cable tv, prime location.

Nightlife:
Cocomanga's, Charl's Bar, dog pound
