Don't cry for me Argentina

  9 votes
Buenos Aires city has become very famous because of it's intense cultural life since the beginning of the twentieth century. On the centennial of the city's foundation, Buenos Aires scene was restored and modernized, making of this amazing metropolis one of Latin America's most important cities, also worldly famous often compared to Paris and many other mayor European cities.

Today, after many, many years, Argentina is returning to an improved cultural life, new cultural centers are coming to life daily, art museums, the rebirth of those once famous Porteñan cafes, bands of street musicians, the growth of artisans fairs as well as markets for collectors, the daily artistic street shows, as well as many more that are being held in theatres of Buenos Aires. All this is putting this city, once more in a central place within Latin American culture.

Favourite spots:
Every Barrio –neighborhood- is coming back to life, showing in every corner some cultural ambiance… even on the train, when traveling back and forth from work, passengers enjoy great folk music played by street musicians.

What's really great:
All this, plus this city's amazing architecture, blending the chick modern areas as Puerto Madero and Recoleta with the colonial Monserrat and San Telmo, adding some of the bohemian style of Palermo Viejo and the lights of Microcentro (downtown BA and the most famous Corrientes Av which was renamed as the Bookstore Av.) make of Buenos Aires a place one must visit at least once in a lifetime! Bob Frassinetti.

Accommodations:
Tips for the Traveller that enjoys good living.

Straight down Arrollo St, located in one of the most important and luxurious
districts of Buenos Aires is the Mianovich Tower. This Neoclassic evocation
of a light house reflects upon a 1920s atmosphere of elegance under the name
of Sofitel Hotel,Buenos Aires.

Surrounded by art galleries that are currently exhibiting superb porteñan
and European art, this historic and artistic treasure invites you in
through an internal promenade of crystal ceilings.

Restaurants:
Le Sud, is in the same building, the restaurant in this the Sofitel Hotel,a petit and very sumptuous liberal Art Decó styled restró with a
splendid and discrete service, is a perfect opportunity for a delicious and
intimate meal. The menu at noon offered us an impeccable selection of
several excellently handled prix fixée dishes. Codfish dices on a spicy
cream souse laid on a puff paste and vegetables crust combined a strong
flavor fussed with the delicacy of the fish, is one excellent dish. Also
highly recommended, is the exquisite duck confitte ordure followed by an
delightful rabbit roast on a soft french mustard crème.

Desserts are ecstasies delicatessens, such as the worm wrapped apples or the
three chocolate terrine. All generously accompanied by a fruity Merlot.

Just an excellent choice, a treat for your soul.

As we leave, on our left we notice La bibliotheque, a magnificent option
that invited us to return to this superb site for a late brunch.
