Queensland is cool you got great beaches the great barrier reef, lots of sun, tropical rainforest. Cairns by itself is not that interesting but a good place to get information and organize further traveling.

What's really great:
4 Wheel Driving on Fraser Island and north of cairns snorkling at the reef and sitting in a pool at christmas and having a cool beer
Accommodations:
camping - you have a wide range of camping facilities - directly in national parks, nobody their except you and some bats to 5-Star deluxe camping facilities that even have luxury cabins to rent
Hangouts:
I can\'t remember exactly - it gets a bit cloudy here - but we have had fun.
