Situated in the three-country-corner of argentina, brazil and paraguay - Ciudad del Este (formerly named after dictator Alfredo Stroessner) has become a huge shopping center for all kind of goods. It is a lot cheaper then in Brazil or Argentina to purchase electronics, software and music - even though not always completely legally.
Favourite spots:
The bridge over the river, where people are carrying goods like ants from one shore to the other.
What's really great:
Getting in to the bustling rythm of that city. Watching the trade and walking down the crwoded streets - also I suggest that you should have left the city at night fall.
Accommodations:
Rather staying in Foz do iguazu.
Restaurants:
There are lots of small businesses on the street where you can actually see what they put on the grill - I recommend that instead of looking for a restaurant.
