Round Dublin

My flatmates and I spent a long (5-day) weekend in Dublin just for fun. It was an amazing city, with fun people and a great atmosphere. We visited a number of sites, walked around the streets and had a great time exploring the nightlife there!

Favourite spots:
Just walking around the city is great. There's always something new to explore, a side street with great shops or a road leading to a new park. We walked everywhere, and yes we got tired, but there's a pub or restaurant on every corner to stop for a break!

What's really great:
There is also a tour called the Hop-on Hop-off bus tour. For one day you have a pass to get on and off of this bus as it stops at all of the major sites around Dublin including Guinness Storehouse, Phoenix Park, Dublin Zoo and St Patrick's Cathedral, just to name a few stops. Check out http://www.irishcitytours.com for more information.

Sights:

Kilmainham Jail is the most amazing place to visit. The architecture is unbelievable and it's got a great history. Definitely make this a priority in the sightseeing you do.

Nightlife:
Zanzibar! Be warned: it's a little upscale and a little snooty as far as getting in. The first night we tried and were rejected (it was almost 11 and we weren't members). But the next night we got there about 8 and stayed until it closed - we even started the dance floor! The interior of this place is amazing, the music is great and there are friendly Irish boys galore. So go early and enjoy. It's at 35 Lower Ormond, Quay Dublin 1. Or check out http://www.capital-hotels.com/xml/Bars/Zanzibar/PubTalk.xml for more information plus some other tips about pubs/clubs in Dublin.

Other recommendations:
An all day tour of the Wicklow Mountains shows you the rolling green hills of Ireland, the small villages and the ancient monastic cities. Again, check out http://www.irishcitytours.com for information. It's a beautiful journey and an amazing day.
