Living in London

  10 votes

In 2000 I went to London for a semester of school. I shared a flat with 5 girlfriends, and it was an amazing 4 months. London is a city where you can really do anything you want, from spending a peaceful afternoon in a park to finding the hottest new clubs and best restaurants. The people are friendly and the pubs are cozy!

Favourite spots:
Hmm, well, I loved all of London. But especially Kensington, Camden and Oxford Street. It was also nice to visit places outside of the city, and with the trains everything is easy to get to.

What's really great:
One of the greatest things about London was the public transportation! Coming from Los Angeles, where you are absolutely lost without a car, it was so nice to be able to just jump on the tube and get where you needed to go, quickly!

Sights:
Well, all of the usual places were great - Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Kensington Park & Gardens. Just walking around the city gives you such a sense of history and development.

Hangouts:
Pick a pub, any pub. I actually loved all of the little pubs around the Chancery Lane tube stop (the one I lived near) and the Tottenham Road tube stop. But really you'll find amazingly nice people in any that you come across, and will feel welcomed immediately.

Restaurants:
Wagamama is the restaurant I would most recommend when making a trip to London. It is a Japanese type place, with great food, huge portions and a fun atmosphere.

Other recommendations:
In addition to the regular sites there are walking tours that are great fun. The one I thought sounded best was the Jack the Ripper tour - nighttime London, dark alleys, it sounded haunted!

It would be nice if you could add some pictures and more detail. You know that you can edit reports that you have written.

Nice report on London. I also liked the public transportation, and of course the pubs!

Take care
