Luxor, large city, home to the famous and largest temple in all of Egypt, The Karnak Temple. Very touristy, lots of souks, o.k. hotels, horse carriages, restaurants, internet cafes. City with an airport.
Favourite spots:
Karnak temple, valley of the kings. the floating restaurants along the Nile.
What's really great:
donkey riding to the valley of the Kings, hanging with the locals and nigerian/russian pilots from Nairobi.

Accommodations:
Windsor Hotel, be sure to pay the cleaning lady under the table to get your clothes washed in a washing machine. She will in turn, decorate your bed and bath linen into the shapes of shells and swans.
