Florida Family Vacations - Days to Remember

  11 votes
Florida has long been a favorite for family vacations. It's no surprise why - with endless sun, miles of beaches, major attractions and state parks - it has become one of the top family destinations in the US.

Orlando is home to the world-famous Walt Disney World and Universal Studios theme parks. Walt Disney World is actually 4 theme parks in one: Magic Kingdom (bigger than California's Disneyland), Epcot Center, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom.

Disney World is huge and best seen at a slower pace over a couple of days. The park offers discounts when a park-wide pass is purchased for all areas of the park. During the peak season of summer, the park stays open until 10pm and has special events, parades and fireworks at night.

Favourite spots:
Universal Studios is not too far from Walt Disney World and is the number two most popular theme park in Orlando. Kids go crazy over Universal Orlando and it’s a guarantee they will sleep well at night after a long day of exploring.

What's really great:
There are two sections to the park and Islands of Adventure is just a short walk away from the original section. There are a variety of rides, including plenty for the little ones. One word of caution: a lot of the rides here are ones where riders will get soaked - so be prepared to get wet. It's unlikely that a change of clothes will be needed, especially during the hot summer months.

Sights:
For older children and teens, the resort offers sports independent activities, as well as one-on-one coaching for golf, tennis and sailing. Parents and kids can also participate in Club Med Sandpiper sponsored excursions to the surrounding areas including a St Lucia River tour, Kennedy Space Center, shopping and kayaking.

Accommodations:
Another popular spot for Florida family vacations is located not on the beach, but in Port St Lucie. Club Med Sandpiper is an excellent resort and kid-friendly. All-inclusive packages include wonderful children facilities that offer babysitting and craft activities. For the parents, a full-golf course and poolside relaxation can help rejuvenate energy.
