Old french style neighbourhoods In Quebec

  9 votes
You feel like you are walking in an old european neighbourhood, but you are actually in Old Quebec City, Canada. And going in the winter gave it that extra special feeling

Downtown on a stroll
Downtown on a stroll
I loved my visit to Old Quebec City, even though it was only for 3 days. On a crisp winter days, there was nothing better than to stroll the old stone streets in the heart of this city. Taking in the french canadian culture, and attempting to speak some french with the locals. Stopping to view an art gallery or eat some amazing crepes for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Favourite spots:
Hotel du Parlement
Hotel du Parlement
Truly one of my favorite spots where the Hotel du Parlement(Parliment Building). For someone who admires building structures, this was great! It is a historic site with beautiful stautes all along the outside of inportant figures in Quebec's history. Along with totems and fountians, it was beautiful. They have daily free tours from 9am to 4:30pm. Hotel du Parlement: 1045, rue des Parlementaires 1-866-337-8837- toll free There are many other buildings to see, like the Hotel Frontinac. Beautiful!

What's really great:
Totem by the Parlements

I loved the atmosphere, of the people and of the activity in this old city. The door on houses, and building were interesting and unique. Everything is in walking distance, so you can see alot of thing in a couple of days with no problem.

Accommodations:
A La Maison Tudor
A La Maison Tudor
When we arrived we spent an hour just walking around to compare prices of Bed and Breakfast, and found all to be reasonable and in walking distance of the heart of downtown. We ended up staying at A La Maison Tudor: 1037 Avenue Moncton Tel:418-686-1033.
It's an old house withlots of character, with very sweet hosts.

Another place that we liked was A l'Augustine: 775, rue Richelieu Tel: 1800-570-2335

Restaurants:
The Irish Pub in Quebec

We ate breakfast every morning at Au Petit Coin Breton, because it was sooo yummy! 80 different kinds of crepes,..our goal was to try and eat as many differnet kinds in our 3 day stay. 1029, rue Saint-Jean Tel: 418-694-0758
We also enjoyed dinner at this wonderful restaurant: Aux Anciens Canadiens: 34 Rue Saint-Louis tel: 418-692-1627.
It is traditional in everyway. With the costumes, and traditional cooking, with maple syrup. It was great meal, for a great price. And evrything was made with maple syrup, the soup the main course and the desserts. Yummy!!

Hi Jelloo,
I too enjoyed reading your report. I've never been to Quebec, but your report creates a nice feeling, which makes me want to.
