Stockholm, a city with many faces.

Stockholm is a very beautiful and quite a big city. It's one of the few European cities that has an impressive skyline, escpecially the central island is very nice if you see it from a distance. It's hard to see everything there is to see in this city in one single day. So get their early, or spread your visit over several days. For tourists, Stockholm is a very difficult city to drive in and to find your way is even harder. So be well prepared if you go here. Parking is quite expensive so best is to find a parking place out of the center. If you're lucky you can even find one for free. Stockholm can easily be travelled by foot, but there is also an excellent subway system, and other public transport systems are easy to use as well. Not every thing worth seeing is located near the centre. The famous big dome for example is situated in the more southern part of Stockholm. Best is to get a map at a tourist information shop before you start. But of course, this is always recommendable.

Favourite spots:
Gamla Stan should certainly not be missed. It is the island in the centre of the city which resembles the old Stockholm. The streets are very narrow and everything is very pitoresque. Futhermore don't miss the royal palace. It's actually situated on the same island as Gamla Stan so you can visit them both in one blow. Try to find out before when the change of guard is. This is always very impressive, but doesn't happen every day.

What's really great:
When you walk from Gamla Stan to the south, in the direction of the big dome, you come across some squares with many terraces with a great atmosphere! An ideal place to take a rest from the whole day of citytrotting. What I can also recommend is one of the many boat trips you can take. They take you to parts of Stockholm, you could hardly see by other types of transportation, and are not very expensive. There even is a replica of an old viking ship on which you can take a trip
