Although the inofficial capital of New Zealand is Auckland-Wellington has a much more international and lively atmosphere.Especially for young people who like cities,Wellington is , apart from Christchurch and Auckland, the place to be in New Zealand.
Favourite spots:
Absolutely beautiful and worth it are the Botanic Gardens. The Embasse Theater, where they showed Lord of the Rings the first time in NZ, and the Te Papa museum are awesome.
What's really great:
My favourite spot is the harbour and the Espressoholic-the best cafe in NZ I guess.Alternative touch, gorgeous food, cheap and extremely nice people.
Accommodations:
Great is the World Wide backpackers. But you should book your beds several days in advance-itīs worth it.If you are not lucky try the Maple Lodge-the owner is damn friendly and wicked-and the rooms are really nice.
Nightlife:
The absolut must id the Studio Nine. There youīll get DrumīnīBass and sometimes House.
Other recommendations:
If you want to go for a swim, donīt try the harbour (Oriental Bay).Go for the small beaches around the bay.
