Sep 02, 2009 06:00 PM seventh day in thailand-ayuthaya

seventh day in thailand-ayuthaya i walked from pranee building hotel just opposite to the national stadium to the southwest and arrived at the railway station hua lampong after 30 min.walk.
at 8:22 am we arrived there and found that a train has left for ayuthaya at 8:20 am and next will be at 9:25 am. so we bought the ticket 15 bahats /person and train left exactly at 9:25 am and we were in ayuthaya at 11:30 am. by paying 50 bahats to tuk tuk we arrived at the old royal palace. there we first visited the wat si sinet by paying 50 bahats( though there was also an option to buy ticket 220 bahats for six wats). it was v.nice world heritage wat.then we visited wat phra ram and then by paying 50 bahats we visited wat maha that.these are worth seeing wats.
the city of ayuthaya is generally v.clean and nice.
at 3 pm we boarded an airconditioned bus from bus station and at 3;05 pm we left ayuthaya and after one and half hour at about 4:35 pm we arrived at the northern bus station of bangkok.
we walked through the chito chak park to the mo chit station of sky train and by paying 30 bahats /person arrived at the sixth or seventh station rachathevi. from this station we again walked to the indra shopping arcade to check our suits from romeo and juliet tailor shop.
we had ordered there on perhaps 29th of august for two pairs of trousers, one jacket and four shirts for 7000 bahats /per person.(the same order was from my friend)
at last we walked back to the hotel and on the way enjoyed a dinner from chicken rice restaurant, very delicious and nice seafood with fried noodles.

Sep 01, 2009 06:00 PM sixth day in thailand-from ko samui to bangkok

sixth day in thailand-from ko samui to bangkok at 8:10 minivan arrived at the hotel to pick us up and after collecting four more passengers on the way , we arrived at na thon pier at 9:00 am. at 9:30 am ferry started boarding while we left the luggage in the bus b/c bus was also on ferry.
at exact 10:30 am we arrived at don sak. we again boarded on the bus and at 12:40 pm we arrived at the surat thani town where i had lunch of roast chicken with rice and sprite costing totally of 50 bahats. then i enjoyed iced coffee by paying 15 bahats. At 1:30 pm bus again started journey to the airport.it took 45 min. and at 2:15 pm I arrived at the airport. i proceeded for check in. the lady on the counter asked me that your luggage is 16 kg. do you want to re-arrange it b/c only 15 kg allowed. ( it was air asia flight for departure at 15:40 ) I took one kg articles from the back pack and put it in my hand luggage. she was v.happy that now the check in luggage is 15 kg. practically there was no difference b/c the same luggage was on the board whether in back pack or in my hand carry.
anyhow, at 15:45 plane took off and flight was smooth.at 16:40 plane landed and i took exit from gate 3 on level 2 or second floor.after crossing the taxis lane i found airport shuttle bus on my left. this free shuttle bus is every 15 min. and takes us the public transport centre. at 5:30 pm shuttle started and at 5:45 we boarded on bus No.551 to arrive at the pratunam or victory monument. the bus ticket was 34 bahats /person.it took about 65 min. to arrive at the victory monument. from there we boarded a sky train and by paying 20 bahats we arrived two stations further, i.e., at rachathevi station.
from the station we walked to the hotels and guest houses. we found a hotel pranee building.its address is 931/12 soi kasemsan 1,rama 1 road, pathumwan, opposite the national stadium bangkok, 10330. phone No. is 022163181. for twin room we paid 450 bahats. room was nice, clean, airconditioned with westeren toilet and clean bathroom.
we then walked for half an hout to the indra shopping arcade to collect my suit from romeo juliet tailor there at sui no.15 in the indra shopping arcade.but unfortunately it was closed.closing time is 8:00 pm.
Near baiyok hotel at a halal restaurnat i had a dinner and mango lassi by paying 210 bahats.

Aug 31, 2009 06:00 PM fifth day in thailand-ko samui

fifth day in thailand-ko samui I am staying in relax resort in chaweng area of ko samui. as per name of the hotel , today we relaxed on its beach for about half day in the morning.then after lunch in the restaurant of the same hotel (nice and reasonable rates) , i went for thai oil message which was 300 bahats/person. it was first experience of thai message though i have visited thailand several times. it was very relaxing and joyful.
i walked in the streets of the island, met many people. it was strange that there are many people migrated from Burma(myanmar) but originally from nepal.
after dinner i bought a ticket for transfer from our hotel to na thon pier ,then by bus on boat to don sak and then to the surat thani airport by passing through surat thani city. SAVE WAY TRAVEL was the cheapest travel agency and more reliable. b/c we also bought the ticket for ang thong national park from the same agency by 1000 bahats while all others were demanding 1500 bahats per person . similarly today everyone was offering us minimum price of 600 bahats fror transfer to the surat thani airport but this agency demanded only 500.
I was also considering to go to the na thon pier by ourselves and then to buy the ticket of 350 bahats /person from the pier by phantip travel but the problem was to reach the pier by 9:30 am b/c first boat starts at 10 am and we may not found any taxi or very expensive taxi.

Aug 30, 2009 06:00 PM fourth day in thailand-ko samui-ang thong park

fourth day in thailand-ko samui-ang thong park today the minivan arrived at our hotel relax resort at 7:30 am to pick me up. at 8:00 am I arrived at bo phat pier and boarded a boat which left for ang thong park at 8:30 am. on the way we were served breakfast with tea ,coffee, crossaunts . at about 11 am I arrived in the park.
I was stunned to see the beauty of lagoon there. it was green water connected to the sea only by underground channels. no words to describe the wonderful laggon. excellent landscape.
we were served a good lunch alongwith pineapple and watermelon.
then I also climbed up a 500 trail . v.difficult path and amazing scenery from the top.
at 3:45 pm boat left the park and arrived at the bo phat piers at 6 am. I also bought a sovenier of a ceramic plate with my pic . on it by 100 bahts.
within 30 min. I was at my hotel.
this tour was 1000 bahats per person . normally the rate is 1500 bahats per person but since this ne company was opened today , therefore the rates were concessional.

Aug 28, 2009 06:00 PM second day in bangkok

second day in bangkok we started our day by walking from our hotel in banglampho to grand palace; it was about 25 min.walk.
when we were checking our direction at the democracy monument by compass A WELL DRESSED MAN STOPPED BESIDES US AND STARTED TO ASK ABOUT US . HE PRETENDED THAT HE WAS VERY HAPPY TO SEE THE FROEIGNERS. HE ALSO TOLD US THAT "GRAND PALACE IS CLOSED IN THE MORNING TODAY B.C EVERY SATURDAY THERE ARE PRAYERS IN PALACE AND YOU SHOULD GO BY SOME TUK TUK TO OTHER PLACES AND THAT DAY IS V.IMPORTANT AND THE GOVERNMENT WILL PAY THE FUEL CHARGES TO THE TUK TUK CARRYING FOREIGNERS . TUK TUK WILL TAKE ONLY 10 BAHATS FOR EVERY ATTRACTION.HE CALLED A TUK TUK PERSON STANDING BEHIND HIM AND ASKED HIM TO TAKE US TO DIFFERENT ATTRACTIONS. BUT WE PREFERRED TO WALK TO THE GRAND PALACE WHETHER IT WAS OPEN OR CLOSED. WE WERE SURPRISED TO SEE THAT PALACE WAS OPEN. BEWARE OF SUCH PEOPLE IN BANGKOK.
there no shorts were allowed and grand royal palace borrows clothes for some deposit of money refundable on returning the clothes. we bought entry ticket by 350 bahats( one us$= 33.62 bahat).and we were told that thai cultural dance will cost only 200 bahats for the people who had grand palace ticket for today.otherwise the ticket for thai cultural show was 1000 bahats per person. so we bought the tickets.
the grand palace is huge complex of beautiful halls and also hall of emrald buddha.we were greatly impressed by its beauty and greatness.
we also visited museum of royal decorations and coins and also the museum of grand palace.
about 2 and half hours spent in the palace and then we walked for 10 min to the wat pho of reclining buddha by paying entry fee of 50 bahats/person.
after about half an hour there we walked to the nearest bus station and by bus no.47 we arrived on the main road and there by bus no.2 we arrived in pratunam for indra shopping arcade where we found romeo and jullet tailor for ordering suits . the rate was 7000 bahats for one jacket, two trousers and four shirts.

Aug 28, 2009 06:00 PM second day in bangkok

after ordering for suits, one for me and one for my friend, we talked to a tuk tuk for going to banglam pho area . he demanded only 40 us $ for two persons but with condition that we will stop for shopping at some tailor, but since we had ordered already so we refused . then we found a taxi person who demanded 100 bahats , so we happily paid and arrived our hotel. from hotel we walked to the democracy monument and then to the south towards royal theatre . it was totally 25 min . walk. there we enjoyed thai cultural show narrating the story of rama and sita.it started at 7:30 pm
after about 1 hour and 45 min. show we walked to an eatery where we ordered a fried fish(40 bahats), fried noodles with veg.and chicken(30 Bahats) and sprite(20 bahats).
there is an atm machine with the name of bank of ayuthya with yellow label which takes no commission but all others charge.

Aug 27, 2009 06:00 PM travel tips for cambodia visit

1.bargaining at the rule of one third. for example while shopping demand of shopkeeper is 75 us$ , he will finally sell you at 25 us$, therefore don't feel shy or embarassed.first show the interest in buying it and then ask the price. again ask the final price. he/she will reduce the price. then you give offer and start coming out of the shop. if affordable he/she will be ready to sell it on your offered price, otherwise you can increase the price slightly if you are v.interested in it.
2. try to visit cambodia with visa taken from bangkok, viantiane or anyother country, b/c visa on arrival on specially cambodia laos border is very difficult. they start blackmailing and asked me to return to viantiane for visa and then come again. it was difficult for me, therefore they demanded bribe of 80 us dollars and stamped a visa on my passport. i have heard that visa on arrival on phnom penh airport is not a problem.
3.visiting cambodia in august is better than to visit in high season. b/c in august or so called wet season,if rain starts it usually in the afternoon while we finish the tour .
4.there are many children selling books like fake lonely planet books, post cards and cold drinks and home made toys.all of them will be after you, so don't be angry and if you are not interested , simply ignore them and don't look at them or on their selling items, they will disperse soon.
5. most parts of cambodia are dusty and with dirt roads. your backpack and your clothes will be turned red while traveling , so try to have a cover of your back pack, so that while checking in your back pack, only its cover becomes dirty.
6.beware of the tuk tuk people. when we were going to visit the grand palace of phnom penh and just 50 meters behind the palace a tuk tuk person told us that the palace was closed due to some royal party and he also advised us to go either killing fields or some wat phnom. But we preferred to check ourselves and the grand palace was open.

Aug 27, 2009 06:00 PM cambodia to thailand

today at 7:20 am bus picked us from the hotel green town and then it continued to pick the other passengers from different hotels. at 8:20 am they filled the bus with the passengers and their luggage. b/c there was no cabin for luggage. it was without air con. and horrible bus. we had taken the bus ticket from RTR travel shop. All the passengers were foreign traveling to bangkok. at first they stopped the bus for 25 min for drinks etc. and then stopped the bust for one hour from 10:30 am to 11:30 am for lunch though it was not lunch time. at last we arrived at 1 pm at piopet border with thailand. after stamping departure from cambodian side we entered thailand and waited for about half an hour for immigration and then waited for the bus . at last at 2:45 pm bus arrived and it was big,air con.. and comfortable bus with cabin underside for luggage. after 4 hours and 15 min. non stop we arrive bangkok old city area at about 7 pm. after checking few hotels we took a twin room in four sons place hotel for 600 bahat per room.it was ok, clean and with reasonable space in bathroom.we enjoyed a nice dinner from outside market with 250 bahat for two persons.

Aug 26, 2009 06:00 PM ninth day in cambodia

ninth day in cambodia today at 8:40 am we left guest house for angkor wat and arrived at baloon site at 9 am.but since it was raining a bit, therefore balooning was non-functional. so we arrived at pareah khan and surprised and wondered to see the huge temples there.this temple is bhuddist complex but some parts dedicated to vishnu(hindu) and other parts to shiva(hindu);built by jayavarman vII on 56 hectares; temples interwining with trees; then we visited chau say tavoda temple; from there we called the baloon centre to ask about the balooning. they replied that baloon is ready b/c weather was v.nice and sunny.so we returned to the baloon and after paying 15US$ per person we had a aerial view of angor wat and surrounding fields. but unfortunately flight was for only 10 min. and heavy heartedly we came down and memorised the great and fantastic views of the angkor wat.
then we returned to thommanon temple and then ta keo and angkor thom. this is a big city with terrace of elephants, terrace of the leper king, the baphuon.we also visited ta prohm again built by jayavarman VII in 1186AD . the walls are interwined with gigantic roots of the trees.
At last we visited banteay kde built at theend of 12th and beginning of 13 centruy.after visiting the sras srang water lake we returned to our green town guest house.
having lunch at the hotel's restaurant we paid total 40 us$ to the tuk tuk for 2 and half days and then we went to the market to buy the bus tickets for bangkok , 7 US$ per person. tomorrow we will leave at 8 am inshallah for bangkok.
