Lucky, lucky with the visas
Posted: 2009-01-09 05:07 PM
Hello,
I am very glad to see that things have been changing in West Africa for the better. Only 24h for the visas? Excellent! At least it was a great surprise rather than a nasty surprise - 'I expected the visa to take a day and it took a week' :)
I am really envious! I love Ghana and the entire West Africa. I made great friends in the town of Elmina - the football team Panya FC. I sponsor one of the young players to go to school...
Sierra Leone was also superb. I went there in November last year. People were super friendly and welcoming. The beaches were excellent and it was relatively easy to move around (well, compared to other West African countries). Although I only went there to test the ground and did not stay too long, the parts of the landscape I managed to see was breathtaking. I did not care much for Freetown, though. Very, very busy and dusty and totally blocked with impossible traffic.
I will be checking your travel log regularly. Happy travelling!
Kindest regards
Krys

Hola mi amigo viajero!

Thanks for your email and wishes. I also wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2009 with many wonderful travels.
And for the seventh of January I wish you a Happy Birthday!
This is perhaps the link you are referring, where Plácido Domigo sings Silent Night (Noche de Paz) together with Patricia Kaas and Alejandro Fernández:
http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=1O4I-LkpV1Q
Lyrics of the song are:
---------------------------
Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace
Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ, the Saviour is born
Christ, the Saviour is born
Silent night, holy night
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
And now in Spanish:
--------------------------
Noche de paz, noche de amor
Todo duerme en derredor
Entre los astros que esparcen su luz
Brilla anunciando al niño Jesús
Brilla la estrella de paz (bis)
Noche de paz noche de amor
Oye humilde el fiel pastor
Coros celestes que anuncian salud
Gracias y glorias en gran plenitud
Por nuestro buen redentor (bis)
Noche de paz noche de amor
Ved que bello resplandor
Luce en el rostro del niño Jesús
En el pesebre del mundo la luz
Astro de eterno fulgor (bis)
Noche de paz, noche de amor
Todo duerme en derredor
sólo velan mirando la faz
de su niño en angélica paz
José y María en Belén (bis)
Noche de paz, noche de amor
Llena el cielo un resplandor
en la altura resuena un cantar:
os anuncio la dicha sin par
que en la tierra nació Dios
hoy en Belén de Judá (bis)
Noche de paz, noche de amor
Todo duerme en derredor
sólo suenan en la oscuridad
Armonías de felicidad
Armonías de paz (bis)
Noche de paz, noche de amor,
Todo duerme en derredor
Sólo velan en la oscuridad
Los pastores que en el campo están;
Y la estrella de Belén (bis)
Noche de paz, noche de amor,
Todo duerme en derredor;
If you are not going to be in Gdansk I will not go, the, I will wait for another moment to visit you in your dacha (I do not forget the local wine (Wisniowka) that you promised me!).
Instead, probably I will travel to Juba, in Equatoria. The country is already independent from North Sudan.
Feliz Navidad!
Jorge
