I don't know about the bias - sometimes it's possible to neglect the attractions close to where you live.
I think it's a fine area but I personally shouldn't equateit with the Torridon Highlands, Skye or Glencoe.

Thailands Western Coast

Hi Mags,
Many thanks for not only taking the trouble to read my latest report on Thailand's West Coast but also to comment upon it and, indeed, rate it so highly.
I see that you are off back to Thailand again soon with your nephew! I do hope that you have fun ..... I adore the Mae Hong Son area having toured it by car last year. Driving is really easy in Thailand and so cheap too!
Many thanks,
Cheers, Brit

Welcome to the list of top 20 members. If we had just 40 more members just like you, this site GLOBO would become autonomous like the staff wish, time will tell. Very very well done and appreciate all your contributions!

Thanks, I spend a lot of time trying to make them as good as possible. You have some amazing pictures. That's something I'm hoping to improve with my new camera.

Hi Mags

I did not have a digital camera in 2001 when I and my family were in Hartlepool. So I should convert the photos I made at the time by scanning them. But anyway, if Hartepool is not glamorous, as you say, we found this little town and its harbor quite nice with beautiful light. And we loved visiting around; we went south down to Whitby where James Cook started his seaman life. For people like us who spend most of their life in a tropical setting and environment, it is quite pleasant to stay in places such as Hartlepool and to enjoy a cool weather. We also went to Blackpool the other side of the country and found ourselves very disappointed at seeing the awful littering of that seaside resort.
Bye.

Hi again Mags

I have been browsing among your photos. Nice!! As I could see from your "about me" section, you live in Newcastle upon Tyne; it reminds me of my latest visit to your lovely country. It was in July 2001 and we paid a one week visit to friends who live in Hartlepool (he is English and she is Thai and we had met in Algeria where Phil and I worked in the same American engineering company dealing with the commissioning of an Algerian state-owned ammonia plant. At the time I was an executive in charge of personnel issues whereas today I am an English teacher in a public French highschool in Polynesia) before visiting round Scotland. Unfortunately, all the pics I took during this trip were taken with a film camera and I should try to find some time to make them digital and upload them to Globo.
Cheers.
