hi, thanks for your comment!
i am planning on travelling for one month (although i wish i could afford longer!) throughout the major european countries.
france, italy, spain, portugal, germany, greece, switzerland, and the netherlands (just for the hell of it).
my baby boy will be staying with my husband, who is also not invited.
hehe
he knew when he met me he would be losing me to everywhere else in the world.
anyways, i hope to put more into this site soon enough.
nice to meet you!

Thank you Liy for your warm welcome and nice words. I still can't find my way here, but I'm trying. As long as there are people here who are supportive as you are, it will be my pleasure to share experiance on this site.
Once again, thank you!

It's funny that you should mention the pickpockets- there IS a very real danger of that in the tourist areas like Las Ramblas & especially Pl. Reial where it's a very organized business pickpocketing tourists. I never had a problem because for the most part I didn't go down there- it was too expensive and in my neighborhood I could walk alone safely at night. (Gracia)
The Miro museum is an eyeopener to be sure! I love some of his things and others don't do much for me. They all make you stop and think regardless- which was his intention. :-)
I've plans to move back to Spain in a few weeks. It's home.
Peace be with you and your travels!

Thank you for the warm welcome. I am very new here so I may be throwing a few questions along the way. Hope you don't mind. I set off for the next world trip in Feb. I never start with an plan but just go where the road take me. I have made many friends around the world due to my Job as a Travel guide/bus driver. So I try to visit as many as I can. Still have a few bookfuls of ppl to go. Never enough time eh? I will be heading over to your site as soon as I log off so will let you know what I think. Write soon
Happy travels

Thanks for the comments on my Cusco report. I hope your S. American trip is fantastic. Mine was an experience that changed my life forever. Any advice you need, feel free to ask. I took the Lonely Planet on a Shoestring...but in reality did S. America by the skin of my teeth (shoestring was too rich for my pocket). I did everything the local way.
Your own backpacking tips are full of great advice- still amazed by the menstrual cup!
best

Hi Liz,
my journey first led me to Bogotá on Sep. 22nd, where I made a stopover to visit the sisters of my spanish teacher. Then I went on for my "real" journey: Ecuador (Quito, Otavalo, Galápagos, Mitad del Mundo, Banos, Train from Riobamba to Alausi, Cuenca). Then came Peru (Trujillo, Nazca, Arequipa, Colca Canyon, Cuzco, Sacred Valley, Inka Trail). I finished my trip in La Paz from where I flew home to Germany on Oct. 30th.
The journey has been great although I had to cancel one third of my points of interests because I didn't want to hurry through all these places. So I missed Pisco-Paracas, the jungle and lake Titicaca. Although the Colca Canyon should NOT be visited with the two day normal tourist tour.
When to You plan to go? And how long? Currently I'm setting up a set of pictures to design my first album and create a travel report. If you are in a hurry I could give you some informations in advance.
Best regards, Joachim

Hi Liz,
I´m not really that excited. Actually: i haven´t even got a route in my mind yet. Still working until the end of the week and then I will start packing and reading a little more. The books, I can recommend and that I have always used for all my trips to Chile, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize etc. are the Lonely Planet and another backpacker´s one which is unfortunately in German. It´s called "Reise Know How" but I don´t think they have it in Englisch. Those two together are my travel insurance, because they complement one another. When will you start with your trip??
Saludos Miriam
