I live in Sooke, a small town of about 12,000 people, just west of Victoria on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. I have lived here all my life. We have beautiful beaches, walking trails, parks, great fishing and many other things. Our weather is quite mild. Today I was at the beach with my daughter's class and it felt like summer. If you ever come this way, be sure to visit Sooke, I am sure you will enjoy it.

Hi Misty,
The nice thing about this site is also the nice people on it - like yourself! All the regulars on here are so friendly and its like a family! Talking of families I noticed that I have been a member just one year today! - I should have had a party - Andy could have sent some beer!

Cormorants

Hi Misty,
Thank you so much for generous praise! Actually when I look at the photographs I took of this character with the cormorants - I see how cruel they are! If you look closely the beaks appear to be taped!
Similarly, the fishing with cormorants is done at night time with bright lights in the water to attract the fish. The cormorants have a band tied around their neck - so they cannot swallow the fish. This has been done for centuries apparently - but there are few animal roghts protestors in China!!
