I enjoyed your slide show. I liked the picture of the old man making fire. I'm sure the men members will like some of your pictures of the ladies the best! :)

Kalahari to Cape
Posted: 2006-10-10 11:20 PM
Hi Amanda, you have uploaded quite a few brilliant scenes from southern Africa. I hope you could see the back of Table Mountain, "Kirstenbosch Gardens" are the center of the regions increadible UNESCO heritage site. The Cape area, 0.5% the area of the African continent, offers 20% of all plant species on the entire globe! Up north, just 200km away and stretching to northern Namibia & Botswana for 2000 km, just plain desert as you saw. Increadible isn't it? Are you still down there south? I'm pleased you saw parts of these countries too. RR

Back at you!

Amanda,
Thanks for your compliments on my photos! Right back at you - the ones you have uploaded from your trip are amazing. I too like table top mountians - we have two in California, but neither as impressive as the onees you uploaded!
I really enjoyed your photos of the tribe. I fear that we lose nobility when we lose people who truly live for and off the land. As harsh as that life may seem, progress doesn't always move us forward.

Glendalough pilgrimages
Posted: 2006-10-10 01:19 PM
Amanda
two pilgrim locations are:
Glendalough Hermitage
As the Jubilee Year of 2000 approached, the idea began to take shape that Glendalough might once again become a source of spiritual energy for the Irish Church, as it was in the past.
. Apart from the main room, which includes a bed, dining area and prayer space, each “cell” has a modern kitchenette and shower room. Pilgrims also have access to a library and prayer room in the Coachhouse. The parish Church is fifty metres away and mass is celebrated daily. The hermitage project is staffed by two sisters of Mercy, Sr. Kathleen Delaney and Sr. Mary McKeever,
Further information can be had by phoning 0404-45777 or by contacting www.hermitage.dublindiocese.ie
An Clochán Website: www.dominicansisters.com/ glendalough
Genevieve is a Dominican Sister who has been leading retreatants and pilgrims in Glendalough over many years,
i have not stayed at either so i cannot say exactly what happens

Thanks for answering my question.
You should have a 'memory book' like I do. On a trip I write everything I see and take pictures of what I like.
When I get home I buy a 'memory book', (similar to an album but the pages never turn yellow), and then I put it all together.
