Rucksack is the way to go!

Posted: 2004-10-23 06:37 PM
Hi Boris,

Of course I go hiking and take my belongings on my back in my rucksack - cos I'm European, English to be exact! An American thinks a hike is any walk beyond the car park (parking lot) anything further then it is backpacking with a backpack! ;-)

Seriously it's great to joke and laugh and it does help make this a true community to rib each other in a good natured way. Indeed when we can do that it is a true sign of friendship!

I didn't know rucksack was a russian word. Napsack (a smaller version) is a Swiss word I think? - we must ask Mortimer (Martin).

Take care,

Cheers, Brit

Waterfalls

Hi Boris

When I saw your two pics of the same scene I though this could be interesting to talk about, I did create a new thread in the forum:
http://www.globosapiens.net/topic-waterfalls-in-hawai---post-your-comments_46_1195_0000.html

Hope that this is ok with you.

Boris,

I agree with you that the trip was long. It was one of the two most adventurous undertakings that I have tried. Yes, I do use Photo Shop for some tasks, however, the most that I usually do on my scanned photos is to enhance the contrast and balance the colors. I do not remember what I did to that particular phot. However, it is one of my favorites. I wish many more travels for all of us. Happy trekking.

Hi Boris,
thank you very much!

You'll find photos of the other two waterfalls in my gallery. They were all beautiful, but Berlin Falls was my favourite. The green pool at the bottom of the fall just gave it the edge, I think. It had been unusually dry in the region before we got there; it makes me wonder just how big these falls are during the wet season.

All the best

Abbottsford

Boris,

The province of British Columbia is extremely scenic, and there are many places that you could visit. There are large cities, like Vancouver, but many smaller places for those who like to just get out and look at the scenery. I strongly recommend visiting Mount Baker, an extinct volcano on the BC/US border. During the proper time of year, there are some excellent opportunities for skiing. Also, Mount Robson, a part of the Canadian Rockies is excellent for scenery. When in the area, don't forget to visit the province of Alberta. There are two wonderful National Parks located there that are world famous for their scenery.

Great travelling, and thank you for your comments.

Hi Boris,

Thank you very much for your kind comments and the ***** for my report on Dresden. I really appreciate it.

When I was in Dresden, I really enjoyed my stay. Even a year later, the memories are still fresh in my mind. That's why I could write it with such detail. I hope to add a slide show in the near future. Please check back soon, who knows Dresden might even be your next travel destination. :-)

Cheers.
