Great pics

Hi Hugh
Your sun slideshow really is great. You did upload some fine pics. The content of the pics is phantastic.
I think the picture comment possibilities are a huge step for GLOBOsapiens and give a great new dimension to it.
What I like is the diversity of opinions about pictures. Everyone can learn a lot by the comments.
Have a great day

Menorah in the Park
Posted: 2005-12-31 04:32 PM
Hugh,
There is a story behind the Christmas in the Park displays. Ceasar Chavez Park in the center of downtown. Six or seven years ago a group of people objected to a religous based display in such a prominent public park. Some very heated City Council meetings were held. The group that came out in favor of the Park display most ardently was the Inter-Faith Council which includes Sikhs, Buddists, Hindu and a number of other non-Christian communities. A beautiful argument was made by a Sikh monk that Christmas celebrates a great Prophet recognized by most every faith - this swung the final vote. In the Park you will see trees decorated by children from these non-Christian communities. It truly has become a cross-faith/cross ethnic display. San Jose is an extreme diverse community with Hispanic, Vietnamese and Philipino communities being the largest. My children have always been the minority in our school, which has given them a wonderfully rich experience!
Happy New Year!
Eire
