pasabag
Posted: 2010-07-08 04:07 AM
hi - appreciate your continued interest in cappadocia. most of the tufo houses were reached by doorways at the base of the mound for routine residences, but pasabag was occupied by monks largely and persecution by the ottomans was a real issue. the guide said that many of the entrances were high up and reached by ladders or equivalent to make access harder.
in this complex even today the church devoted to st. simon can only be reached by a perilous ladder. unfortunately this image and many others were exposed vertically ( like the apple church ) without the pixel width to post on this site. also on my other site is a vertical picture of a hidden stairway in the goreme open museum.
slow but sure. thanks again for visiting. back to work. n.

Berat's cistern
Posted: 2010-06-30 04:12 PM
Hi Petra,
Thanks for the comment on my Berat report. I am not planning to post a photo of the cistern within the old citadel on the top of the Berat's hill, because the picture is not good enough for Globo. It was dark there and I could not get the right angle from the little opening (basically a hole) in the wall. It was really dangerous there, so I just snapped what I could and you can see the photo on my website. It is the first photo in the Albania gallery.
Kindest regards
Krys

Petra,
Thanks for your comments about my album, I am hoping to add a few more pictures when I get the chance, as it was really an amazing structure and I have so many pictures.
All the best

Prague! Marvelous!
Posted: 2010-06-25 08:30 AM
Petra,
I love that you capture everything! Rather than focusing just on the obvious - the marvelous architecture and charm - you include the tasty, the convenient and the unusual! It is a wonderfully balanced slideshow that gives a real feel!
Thanks for sharing!

Hi Petra
Yes your album from Prague is excellent. The variety, different angles and colours of your pics has inspired me to make a visit there sometime in the near future. I am off work this weekend and the sun is out so I will enjoy it.
All the best
Fred.

Hey Petra,
Yet again, thanks for rating my report. It was very strange being there at that time, because you just never knew if or when the violence would start, especially after what had happend over the last few years.
All the best
Amanda
