Accident???
Posted: 2010-06-03 01:10 PM
Hi Tony,
what do I read? You have had an accident? I hope you are well again. I wish you all the best. Does that mean that you will not come to Germany?
Please, tell me.
Take care.

hi, tony -

the volcanic ash which covers anatolia is soft and porous, easily cut out creating internal spaces. later on i will have images of whole cities 10 stories deep cut out of this stuff as well as a hotel and a restaurant or two. all these entire churches are entirely cut out of a big block of rock. just a small external opening for the christians to hide from the ottomans, and then the entire interior all cut from the same tufo rock.

well, if 6 pictures in 5 days, when allowed only twenty a month total, are too much for the senior members of the site, let me assure you ( following totally by coincidence a nasty note from management as well ) that you will be seeing far fewer of my images in the future.

Tony,
I really was quite surprised. My girlfriends are all tickled that "their" trip got an award! It was a great chance to try something new!

Thanks, Tony!
I am very pleased with the award, but I really have to thank the many animals who 'modelled' for me!
All the best

Real travellers...
Posted: 2010-05-11 02:52 AM
Hotel del Sol on Costa Brava every year? Oh yeah, I know travellers like that, too. They are fascinating. They eat full fry-up English brekkie every morning reading Daily Mail couriered over by the concierge and watching BBC World on giant telly screens. And the fascinating bit is that they do not watch BBC World and do not read Daily Mail in the UK, and do try eat cereal at home. :) I also know similar traveller species from Germany, too. But hey, everyone has right to have their own priorities.
So, where do you think you will eventually go this summer?
Best regards

Berlin!

Hi Tony,
Many thanks for your guestbook entry. I have lost count on how many times I was in Berlin. It is a great city with vibrant avant-garde, art and nightlife scenes. It has risen like Phenix and it keeps masking its scars. I really ought to do a report on Berlin (I started one, but cannot finish it) and post an album to show how dynamic it is.
Yet, every time I go, I end up just wandering about the city in the afternoons, party and go clubbing all night until late morning, and sleep through lunch until teatime. I really need to convince my family to let us do some sightseeing again... Often weather crushes my plans. And once, when it was lovely outside, I had an inflammation of cornea, so had to stay indoors all weekend - during daylight, of course... ;)
Best regards
