Nurnberg - Germany, Bayern
Most major German cities lie on major waterways, but not Nurnberg which straddles the small Pegnitz River and is divided into the Lorenz section with most hotels, restaurants, and shopping. On the other, the Sebald section with most of the touristic sites.
The river has four islands including the upscale shopping on the Troiedelmarkt and nine bridges. It is lined by old buildings, new apartment houses, cafes, restaurants, and at the Maxbrucke a very crowded Starbucks.
