One thing I have noticed in the past 2 1/2 years of traveling is that I never meet any Spainards. I discovered why in Barcelona. Why leave their country? They have everything you could want. Good food, family, siesta, sangaria, culture, history, archetecture, skiing, beaches, sprawling nature, sprawling cities. Barcelona in particular likes to party. The beaches are absolutely beautiful sitting right on the Mediterranian.

Favourite spots: |
Enjoyable to walk along the piers. Nice places to get some real good food, do some leisurely shopping and enjoying conversation with people you come across. Also nice walk to the Olympic village, but anti-climatic once you get there. There really isn't much of a show of the village left.

What's really great: |
SIESTA! What is nice about this time of day is that everything shuts down and people enjoy life. It is a time to listen to your body, take a nap, get small little details of life done (bills, etc), have lunch with friends, etc.

Sights: |
Be sure to go to the Goggenheim Museum for unbelievable archetecture.
Accommodations: |
Hostels and hotels of all types in all budget ranges. Recommend staying closer to the pier so you don't have a long walk home.
Nightlife: |
All over the pier. You can't miss it with the loud music and show lights everywhere. About ten clubs in one mall area.
Restaurants: |
Everywhere!!!!! All kinds of great food.
