Beautiful beaches surround the 'Baie des Chaleurs' in the North of New Brunswick. Here's a few places where one can enjoy the sun, while enjoying the scenery and the friendly people. The beaches are usually open from July to the middle of September.

Favourite spots:

Youghall beach is where one can lie down on the soft sand and listen to the surf. There's a public beach, one side has a lifeguard and one side that doesn't. It is well indicated as per which side is which. They have volleyball nets set up permanently. The marina is close by and is open to the public. Also nearby, on Youghall Drive is a great golf course. Caron Point also has a nice beach, and isn't as busy as Youghall beach. But please note that it doesn't have any facilities. The water current is dangerous, therefore I wouldn't recommend swimming either.

What's really great:

On the road heading toward Caron Point, make sure to stop at the bird sanctuary. Which has many paths that lead to the beach. A gazebo and wooden walkways were built to accommodate and are well situated for watching the local wildlife. From this angle one has a great view of Bathurst's sky line

Sights:
Youghall beach is situated on the Atlantic ocean, although named the Baie des chaleur which means heated bay, don't trust the name as the water is cold even in the middle of July.

Accommodations:

When booking a hotel, the recommended ones are situated on St. Peter Ave. All of them are clean and the staff courteous.
And the picture appended is not a picture of a hotel available.. hahhaha

Restaurants:
Most restaurants are also situated on St. Peter Ave as well as two malls and the local dancing clubs and pubs.

Other recommendations:

In the middle of July, Bathurst hosts the festival “Hospitality Days.” And in the middle of August they celebrate “La fete des Acadiens.” If you like many activities, attending these two festivals would be a good idea. The date of these events changes so be sure to check with the local tourist office as per when they are planning them.

Bathurst is bilingual, therefore English and French is spoken throughout the city. Restaurants, information and publicity are written in both languages. To get to Youghall beach, drive on St Peter Avenue until you get to the set of lights on top of Tetagouche hill, turn right to Youghall Dr. and drive to the end of the road. You'll then find yourself on the beach. The beach is situated about a 15 minutes drive from city center. There is no public bus service in Bathurst so be prepared to have a mode of transportation. A car is highly recommended.

Although Bathurst is a small city, everything is very well indicated. People are friendly and will give you directions if needed.

Baie des chaleur is a bit of a misnomer. I liked your description and I am quite sure it is worth a visit. But it is the climate which is not so pleasant (for me). I loved to see your pictures. And one day we will visit Canada. We would love to go by train from east to west.
