Brisbane River and Skyline
|
|
if you have a look on a map, you will find brisbane on the eastcoast of australia, quite in the middle.over 1.6 million living their togehter in harmony and calm.the city is so relaxed in every way, no stress at all i mean., its a desirable place to live, lots of nice cafés along the brisbane river. this river seperates the town in two parts i think. the one is a very cultural side. you will find the Queensland art gallery as well as the queensland museum over there. the other side is more into shopping and buisness. but anyway both sides have an own atmosphere, so get there and find out. lots of river cruises will help you to get from one place to the ather while you enjoying a good view up to the skyline of brisbane city. get off at the botanical garden and have a great walk back into the city centre and have a coffee. talk to these friendly people, they are open to chat with you any time.

i ve just been there a week, but during this time i found places where i felt quite comfortable. there are lots of spots inviting you to stay, so i had to choose. i had great walks along the brisbane river when the sun sets.or just visit the -brisbane city hall- take the lift and get up to have a great view through these high buildings and get the feeling back, that we are just small human beings. i also get lost when i had a walk around my hostel -- accomodation, but i ve seen nice spots, small parks, great that what it makes feeling so good in this city, you know go somewhere and you will find good places to stay, eat or enjoy.

What's really great: |
i really likes the open and friendly people living and traveling there. i always felt elcome, whereever i ve been. they got wonderful flowers planted around the university, so i think it s the most beautiful one i ve seen. in germany we mostly have to pay for a museum or an art gallery. they got a lot of them admission free. i also loved the brisbane river, not that big. lovely to look at. sometimes i had the feeling i ve been somewhere in sweden, because of the little houses along the river, but when you turn your view, you will see the amazing architecture of brisbane city, which lets you know where you are.

Accommodations: |
I had a really good accomodation not that far away from the main transit centre.
It s on a hill, so got a great view over brisbane city. They also got a huge rooftop sundeck, good to enjoy your breaky, to read a book or just to meet new friends.
This hostels is called -Brisbane City Backpackers- , 380 Upper Roma St. And i think you can handle their prices as well: from 18 to 44 $ you will get a quite comfortable bed to sleep.
Dont worry that you might not find it. Its a brithly painted yellow house, which invites you to stay.

Nightlife: |
Well their are lots of pubs, restaurents, cafés and so on.
I loved the café in the national gallery, or the one the southbank parklands.
Its red coloured inside with blue and green windows.they got good coffee and cakes, as well as sandwiches.
if you dont like them, you will always find starbuck, mcdonalds and stuff like this around the corner

|
Other recommendations: |
Dont miss the south bank parkland on Saturday or Sunday, there are lots of events for families AND singles.
They got an artificial beach and you have the chance to have a swimm their too.
Watch the boat racing shows or just enjoy the atmosphere laying in the shadow, watching old ships passing you. Have a awalk over the bridge to get downtown. There are lots of shopping possibilities, to get what ever you want.
And last but not least. Dont miss the casino building. You dont have to get inside and loose money. The arcitecture is great to look at. I was sitting there for hours, to the left this beautiful building and straight away the brisbane river. Awesome!
if you ra interested in books, dont miss the secondhand bookstore- archives fine books- you will find any kind of book quite cheap.
